Temporary reprieve from cold weather

Although sunday started cold with a temperature of 1.6 C at 08.00, the thermometer slowly rose to a maximum of 6.7C, some 3.3C below the average for November even though we had 3.5 hours of strong sunshine.

The temperature then fell away to 3.8C at 17.45 before climbing again as the cloud in advance of the next weather front arrived.

Rain fell between 5 and 7am this morning, with 3.3mm being recorded and bringing the total for November to 59.8mm. This is 65% of the November average.

At dawn today we were greeted by medium level cloud, slowly beginning to thin as the weather front cleared to the east. As a consequence the thermometer began to fall again from a maximum of 9.1C at 07.45, reading 8.8C at 08.00.
