After the very sunny and warmer day on Thursday, Friday brought us 3.6 hours of sunshine and a maximum 2C below average with a peak of 18.9C. The sunny morning gave way to more cloud after lunch but it stayed dry. The winds were lighter and had backed from the north into the west.
Overnight the cloud and a change in wind direction from the north into the west, meant a very mild night, a night that was 7C warmer than the previous one with a minimum of 14.9C, being 3.4C above the average for August. It was the warmest night since 19th July.
A light shower, amounting to 0.4mm fell just after midnight.
Intermittent sunshine was in evidence after dawn with the thermometer climbing to 16.2C at 08.00, the warmest morning for almost a month.
